Where It All Began
I was born in 1979, and today you’ll find me in Prague, where I run my own recording studio. My musical journey, however, began much earlier - at a local music school and especially under the wings of my wonderful grandfather. He was a versatile and beloved musician in our region who dedicated himself to me and my younger brother, Tomáš, from our earliest childhood.
He first sat us down at the piano, but soon we both picked up the French horn, and day after day, we played together as a trio. We soaked up everything from him like sponges - not just how to play our instruments, but all his arranging tricks as well. It was the best school of life a young boy could ever wish for.
While the eldest bearer of the Beran name guided me toward the classics, my father "soaked" me in pure rock n' roll. He played keyboards with the band B-Q around our home region, and as a teenager, I often joined them as a sound engineer. That’s where I definitively fell under the spell of Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, and Queen. When I finally begged my first electric guitar out of him at fourteen, that was it - I knew the love for rock was inked in my heart forever.
This dual identity - a deep respect for classical music and a passion for rock - stayed with me. While studying French horn at the Conservatory in České Budějovice, I took up the double bass, and as I continued my studies at the Prague Conservatory, my hunger for creation led me to composition. That rigorous classical "drill" gave me a rock-solid foundation for everything I do today.
- Orchestral Career: Between 1998 and 2002, I performed as a French hornist with prestigious institutions including the Prague State Opera, Virtuosi di Praga, The South Czech Philharmonic & Theatre, National Theatre, and the F. X. Šalda Theatre Liberec.
- Chamber Music: I was a member of the elite Czech Horn Quartet, showcasing technical mastery and artistic excellence.
- Prague Castle: From 2002 to 2013, I served as a French hornist for the Prague Castle Guard Fanfare Orchestra, for whom I also composed several ceremonial fanfares.
- Immersive Soundscapes: Through our project Audiofairytellers, we don’t just record audiobooks; we create cinematic experiences with original, high-quality incidental music, songs and music videos.
- Global Reach & Linguistic Excellence: We produce multilingual titles overseen by the renowned Irish linguist Mícheál Úa Séaghdha, supported by a top-tier team of narrators and translators.
- AUDIOFAIRYTELLERS Creative Team: Our core team functions as both a production house and a musical group, driven by the creative partnership between myself and Vlastimil Červený, often joined by exceptional guest artists.
- International Festivals: I am the founder of Rock For Soul, an international music festival that debuted at the Žofín Palace (2016) and continued at the Hybernia Theatre (2017). This is closely linked to our creative project, The Parliament of Souls.
- Education & Mentorship: Sharing knowledge is as important to me as creating it. As a dedicated educator with over ten years of experience teaching in music schools and providing private lessons, I take great pride in mentoring the next generation of musicians, helping them find their unique voice and master their craft. I love watching my students grow, and I strive to help them find their own unique path, just as I once searched for mine.
I believe I inherited the "teaching gene" from the women in our family. My mother and grandmother were teachers their entire lives. It is thanks to them that patience and working with talent come so naturally to me. My mother also served as a primary school principal and, to this day, remains my biggest fan and greatest support.
- International Stars: Joe Lynn Turner (Deep Purple / Rainbow / Yngwie Malmsteen), Ronnie Romero (Rainbow / Elegant Weapons / Gus G), Tonya Graves (Monkey Bussiness / UNICEF Project), Celeste Buckingham, George Gakis, Roman Lomtadze (drummer of Daron Malakian's Scars On Broadway / Octavision)
- Classical Masters: Radek Baborák.
- Czech Icons: Michal Horáček, Lucie Vondráčková, Oldřich Kaiser, Chantal Poullain, František Segrado, Zdeněk Podhůrský & Underhill Band, Leona Machálková, Sázava Klan, GLANC and many more.
